American artist, Fahamu Pecou, born in 1975, has always wielded the tools of hip-hop culture to question black identity in America today. Backslash Gallery presents a series of drawings and paintings that reflect the great covers of magazines from the late 1920's, and cite the lyrics from the Jay-Z and Kanye West song Niggas In Paris along with Aimé Césaire's ideas of identity.
